In the morning we packed up and left. As we drove down the valley there
was torrential rain, which persisted most of the way to Annecy.
We got
there just before 11 and went straight to the Aire, and were lucky to
get the last free place. We parked and then walked up the lakeside into
town, about 1km. We had a walk through the old streets by the river and
the market. It was a little rainy at times.
We found a very pretty biscuit shop.
Then we mistakenly headed for Annecy-Le-Vieux, thinking it
was another old part of town, and ended up walking about 4 miles for no
great reward.
We went back to the centre, got a burger for lunch and
then a map from the tourist information. We did one if the walking tours
taking in the (many) churches of the old town, finishing at the castle.
We
bought some provisions at a supermarket and went back to the van. We
decided to walk up the hill to the municipal campsite Belvedere and book
in for the next two nights. Since Bastille Day was coming up we hoped
there'd be some celebrations to see.
At the campervan we made tuna with
fried potatoes and peas and sweetcorn. It had been raining off and on
all day, but now came on very heavy.
