European Trip - Day 8

We did a circular walk from the site today. First up to the next village up the valley, Oberwössen, then up tracks to a mountain hut, Rechenberg Alm. It happened to be closed but we sat at its tables for our lunch.

We saw a salamander on the way.

We walked up a bit further, but the weather wasn't great and the path went up a steep muddy field full of cows so we decided just to head back down.

The path first went steeply down through a forest, but then more gently down a lovely gorge.

Back down we had a walk through Oberwössen. It had one of these story poles that a lot of Bavarian villages seem to have.

The walk was about 13km with 610m of ascent.

Back at the site we drove to a supermarket in Unterwössen down the valley for provisions. While there we went for a short walk round Wössner See.

We then returned to the same site and booked back in for another night at 20 euros. We had pizza for dinner.
