We left the Fussen site and drove south into Austria, heading for the Highline179 bridge. This is a suspended footbridge over a wide gorge and the main road, which connects 2 castles on one side to a fort on the other side.
We parked in the campervan car park and walked up to the bridge. There's a funicular railway for those who can't or won't walk up.
We had a good look around and saw one of the castles, plus the fort on the other side.
We drove back into Germany, then further west to the town of Oberstdorf. We parked in the large stellplatz on the edge of the town. It's a big area that holds about 200 vans. We paid 48 euros for 2 nights, not including electric. Showers cost 1 euro but good fast Wi-Fi is free.
We went for a walk up to Freibergsee lake, which has a swimming area.
We walked back down through the woods and across meadows into Oberstdorf itself.
There's a football fanzone set up there, with bands and other acts on when the football isn't. We had a beer there then a walk round the town.
Later for dinner we had spinach and ricotta stuffed pasta with arrabiata sauce. We stayed in to watch the Scotland football match in the van.
