We drove 20 minutes north to Walchensee and parked just up the hill from the lake. The walk went steeply up the hill in the forest with occasional viewpoints on the way.
Eventually we emerged from the forest cover into beautiful weather and stunning views, and made it to the top of Jochberg (1565m).
The route down was a different way, past Jocheralm hut where we stopped for a sandwich.
From there the tracks down were much easier. We got down to Walchensee and Oscar had a paddle.
After walking back up to where we'd parked the van, we'd done 10.5km and 770m of ascent. We drove back to Tennsee campsite.
They have a grill bar selling food there, so for dinner we both had half-chicken and chips which was very good.
