We left the site and drove towards Königsee in the extreme south east of Bavaria, stopping in Berchtesgaden to do some shopping.
At Königsee we parked in the large stellplatz and paid 50 euros for 2 nights. It has toilets, but no other facilities.
We walked to the lake, it's very touristy there with souvenir shops and boat trips round the lake. We didn't go on one as they insist on dogs being muzzled and we didn't want to.
We started on a circular walk which had many viewpoints over the lake.
We carried on walking up to the middle cable car station above the town, and had a rest on the chairs there.
Before going back we diverted up to the top of Hinterer Brankopf at 1156m, where the views were really good.
We could see down to Königsee's bobsleigh track.
We did a total of 16km with 830m of ascent.
Later that evening the sunset lit up the crags we could see from the campsite.
We had prawn Thai red curry for dinner.
