We drove to the mountains today. We parked up in the village of Aracena, then walked down a lovely path between olive and cork plantations.
Eventually we arrived at a smaller village, Linares. It has a nice water feature, and a church next to the main square.
We then walked back to Aracena by a different, higher path. A lot of it had been eroded by recent rains.
As Aracena came back into view we could see its castle on top of a hill.
In the village centre we could see that a mountain bike event was going on, the finishing line was next to the car park we'd used.
We sat and had a sandwich in the main square, next to the public laundry.
We went on a further short walk to the east of the village. It was supposed to be to a natural spring, but at the destination all we could see was a tiny stream. It was interesting landscape thought, with some other larger streams irrigating the crops in small farmsteads. We saw sheep, goats and a few pigs.
Back at Aracena we had a beer outside before going home.
Later for dinner we had ham and cheese pizza.
