Seville - Day 4

After breakfast we drove to El Rompido, a village on the coast near Huelva. We parked near the harbour and went for our walk into the nearby nature reserve comprising mainly of salt marshes. There are wooden boardwalks for part of the way.

We saw lots of wading birds, storks, egrets and a few flamingos.

Often on the muddy sand there were loads of crabs, which scurried into holes as soon as you approached.

We walked right to the end of the peninsula, to a bit where there used to be a big clam harvesting industry. Nowadays it's on a very small scale. We had our lunch sitting on the beach at the end.

After returning to the car we drove to Huelva and parked next the the large promenade. It was pretty quiet. We found that there was a double-decker pier that we could walk onto, so we went out to the end of that.

We had a drink at the only bar open on the promenade.

Back at the car we drove to the tip of the peninsula to have a look at the Columbus monument there.

We went back to the apartment, via a supermarket for provisions.

For dinner we had our own tapas-like meal, potato tortilla, crackers, olives and potato salad.
