Seville - Day 7

Today we drove to Carmona, a town about 30 minutes away to the east. We'd seen on TV that Michael Portillo lives there, but we didn't see him!

We walked through the streets first, and found the Convent Santa Clara, which sells cakes and pastries through a turntable door. However the nun that came out when we knocked was happy to be seen and sold us a Torte Ingles, a cake made with pork lard, flour, sugar and angel hair (a kind of jam made with squash).

We then went out of the town gate to the north, and walked round a small valley.

After passing the town we headed south and then circled back, it was very sunny and warm.

Carmona has a Roman Necropolis which is open as a free attraction, so we had a walk around it. It's a very extensive site.

We had a beer at a table outside a café, then drove home via a supermarket for provisions.

We tasted the Torte Ingles, it was very good.

Later for dinner we had our own tapas again, mixed pastries this time, with Manchego cheese, olives and tomatoes.
