Ardnamurchan - Day 3

We drove to use the facilities in Strontian, then to the car park at Ariundle woodland.

We started our walk, first through the ancient woods by the River Strontian, sometimes with wooden boardwalks.

Then we carried on up the track as far as the old Strontian mines.

After that it was up a steep grassy slope to a ridge, then a final climb to the summit of Sgurr na h-Ighinn. On the way we saw a couple of lizards, and one red deer. The views all around were amazing.

On the way down we took a detour up into the woods, it was really magical with mossy covering on all the trees and rocks, being an ancient oak woodland.

When we got back we drove on to Resipole Holiday Park, where we booked in for two nights.

After a welcome shower we had tuna and tomato pasta for dinner. In the evening we walked a mile and a half along the road to the Garbh Eilean Wildlife Hide, where we sat for a while hoping to see otters. We didn't, but saw a few herons and seals.
