We left the site and headed further south. We stopped for a walk in a place called Palm Desert, though we didn't see too many palm trees. Our route took us to two peaks, one with a cairn on top and the other with a hermitage surrounded by lots of aerials and antennas.
It was pretty hot with no wind today. At the base of the hill is a nunnery which normally sells pastries, sweets etc., but it's close on Mondays.
We drove on to Castellon de la Plana, a fairly big city on the coast. We wanted to stay in an aire at the beach but it was full and we would have had to wait a couple of hours to see if a place became available.
We decided to head for an aire on the inland side of the city. We checked in, but once in we realised it wasn't that great. It was 20 euros all inclusive, but the hookup point was too far away from our pitch so we couldn't use it.
The van next to us was damaged by kids next door throwing stones into the site.
We went for a walk round the block, it was still very warm. We went into a dog-friendly shopping centre and bought some milk.
For dinner we had fresh meat-filled pasta with tomato sauce.
There was a nice sunset.
Later it turned out that through no fault of our own we'd parked on someone else's pitch. they seemed happy to park next to us overnight though.
