We walked from the site up into the forest to the south, skirting round some of the tiny settlements. When we got to any clearing the views of the extent of the forestry around were impressive.
We got to the Col de la Perheux, an ancient crossing point where many paths meet, and apparently where they used to execute witches. From there we decided to go up to the peak of Mont Saint-Jean (750 metres).
We then carried on our circular route, which ended up in Rothau. We went round to check out the station, as we plan to get a train into Strasbourg tomorrow. We also had a drink at a bar in the main square.
Later for dinner we had Greek salad.
