We went for a walk from the camp site today. The weather wasn't great but we packed waterproofs and set off. First we went up the hill behind the site to a tower at the top, which you can climb up for the view. There were some volunteers doing gardening around it so we donated some money to their funds.
We then walked back down into Orbey via some kind of monument.
In Orbey the rain came on really heavy, so we sheltered in a covered bridge for some time. We even debated calling it a day and going back to the van.
The rain did ease eventually though, so we carried on out the other side of town. We went up to a set of stones called Pierre Tremblant (Trembling Pierre). These are large solid stones balanced precariously on some gravelly conglomerate.
We completed the figure of eight walk by going back down through Orbey and up to the camp site again. We did a total of 17 km with 780 metres of ascent.
Since Oscar had got wet earlier I think he was a bit cold and tired when we got back!
For dinner in the evening we made tartiflette (cheese, onion, bacon lardons and potatoes) which we had with tomatoes.
