We left the Orbey camp site, and drove further north within Alsace. We stopped at the village of Hohwald and parked just outside as the main car park didn't allow campervans.
We went for a relatively short walk to a waterfall, which was very quiet until we actually got to the waterfall where it became busy.
We drove on to the town of Schirmeck, which is near our next camp site. In the tourist information office a very helpful staff member gave us lots of local information. We then had a stroll round the centre of town followed by a drink in a bar.
We went to our camp site and checked in. It's in the town of Rothau, and it's called Au Bord du Bruche and it's very picturesque right next to the river. It only costs 17.50 euros per night including EHU and showers.
There's a train line just adjacent to the site, and the trains that run on it are slow and noisy. The site owner said they don't run overnight, which is good, but we discover they do start at 5.30am!
Later for dinner we had a barbecue of pork slices, courgette, tomatoes and new potatoes.
