We left the site in the morning and drove to have a look at the Dark Hedges, an avenue of beech trees famous for being in the Game of Thrones.
You have to park in the car park of the Dark Hedges hotel, and walk to the avenue. There were a lot of people around, and we never got it to ourselves. Some of the trees have fallen over in various storms over the years and there are a few gaps.
After this we went to Londonderry. We parked at the side of the River Foyle next to the railway museum, where there's a car park that can be used overnight. It costs a small amount to park during the day but is free after 6pm.
It's a fairly short walk up a hill into the city centre. There is an intact city wall which we walked round.
There's a mural of the Derry Girls from the TV show. We actually came across it as it was having a canopy built which covers the bottom half of it, which we later found out is a bit of a local bone of contention.
There are a few more things to see, the Guild Hall and some more murals.
We had some lunch in a sandwich shop, then walked down to Free Derry Corner. There we saw all the murals and memorials there, including monuments to the Hunger Strike and Bloody Sunday.
On the way back we saw the Peace Bridge.
Later we got a takeway from a local Chinese restaurant, Far East. Two main meals with rice, chips, curry sauce and prawn crackers for £16.50, very good!
