Northern Ireland - Day 10

We drove into Enniskillen and parked in the centre near the castle. We went on a circular walk along the River Erne then over to Castle Coole. It was mostly nice weather though we did get a heavy shower.

We drove south to Newcastle, our base for walking in the Mourne Mountains. What we didn't know, however, was that this weekend it's hosting the Irish Open Golf Championship, which means the roads are all very busy. Some of the campsites we'd looked at were fully booked, but we had managed to get into Woodcroft campsite, which is within walking distance of the town centre.

It's £25 per night and supposed to be 50p for showers, but they gave us a handful of 50p coins, which was nice. You can see Slieve Donard, the highest mountain in Northern Ireland, from our pitch.

After setting up we went for a walk into town. There were a lot of police around directing traffic for the golf. We went for a drink in the Tap Room pub, which actually had a good selection of beer,

We went back for dinner, pasta with bacon, pesto, spinach and cherry tomatoes.
