We left the site in Freiburg and went to Aldi for some shopping. We then drove to find a car park near the start of the walk up Feldberg, the highest peak in the Black Forest at 1493 metres.
We found there was nowhere to park a campervan at the highest part of the resort, so we had to drive back down a bit to a car park. We eventually managed to get a 10 euro parking ticket from the machine with the help of someone whose card actually worked in it.
We walked back up to the top resort, then started the Feldberg circular walk.
Being so high up the terrain was more open and we had good views.
We reached the top of the ski slopes where there is a tower and a monument.
We then carried on the flatter walk to the peak of Feldberg itself.
We continued the circular walk, through forests and past a couple of mountain huts.
Towards the end we went round Feldsee, a circular glacial lake.
After getting back to the van, we had to find somewhere to spend the night as that car park wasn't suitable. We drove down the valley to the town of Todtnau, which has a stellplatz just on the outskirts. You pay for it by putting cash in an envelope and posting it in a slot.
We made raclette for dinner, and later went for a short walk up the adjacent river. There's an open-air swimming pool a short distance away.
