Germany - Day 12

We left the site and drove to Trier, which is a city a few miles downstream from where the Saar river joins the Mosel. We parked in the stellplatz, which is basically a huge carpark across the river from the city centre.

It has toilets and showers, and uses a Campcard system to pay for electricity, showers etc.

We walked along the Mosel to the centre of the city.

We had a walk around, seeing sites such as the Porta Negra (black gate) and the cathedral.

We walked east of the centre to see the Roman Amphitheatre, which was quite impressive.

We had a drink in the cathedral square, then walked back to the stellplatz.

Later we had a barbecue of marinated pork steaks, beefburger, yellow courgette, tomato and coleslaw.
