It was very sunny when we got up in the morning, we decided to cycle across the peninsula to Portpatrick. It was on the fairly busy A road at first, then a single track road up and down through farm country.
The journey was about 9 miles each way, not bad for the first real cycle of the year. We arrived at Portpatrick and locked the bikes up at the seafront, then went for a stroll.
We walked up a steep slope to the ruined Dunskey Castle.
We then went round past the harbour. We climbed up to the Portpatrick Hotel for the views back down.
After eating our lunch we cycled back to the campsite.
In the afternoon we drove down to the Mull of Galloway, the most southerly point of Scotland. We went for a circular walk, first to the RSPB centre.
Then on to the foghorn and lighthouse.
There were lots of sea birds nesting. We had a great ice cream from the visitor centre.
We walked to see the rock that is the actual southerly point of Scotland.
We drove up the west coast to Port Logan and had a stroll there.
Later it was still very sunny, we had a barbecue of chicken and vegetables with couscous.
