We got up fairly early, but decided to wait until the visitor centre toilets opened at 10:00. After that we drove up to the car park at the top of the glen and set off on our walk up The Merrick (843m). The car park is at a monument to a battle with the English called Bruce's Stone.
It was quite cloudy most of the day, but very pleasant and no rain. It was a pretty straightforward climb, first following a stream, then up through the forest.
We passed a disused bothy.
We then got to the montane area above the treeline. The views were great, it's quite a wilderness.
There was still a patch of snow near the top.
We only saw 2 other people, though there had been a dozen or so cars in the car park. We descended, and the weather got a bit sunnier.
We then moved the campervan down to a car park about half way down the glen, next to the river.
We went for a short stroll looking for wildlife but didn't really see any. We had lentil chilli for dinner and then a very quiet night.
