We were leaving the Lake District today, so packed up and left the site. We shopped for some provisions at Booths then headed north. We took the scenic route round the Solway coast, stopping for lunch on the way.
Eventually we got to Mabie forest park and parked in the car park there. We went for a walk round one of the marked routes. There was an old sawmill just at the start.
The walk was mainly on forest tracks. We came upon a pond which had tadpoles and newts in it, and also stopped by a little loch.
We stayed the night in the car park, having salmon and new potatoes for dinner.
