Homeless Trip - Day 5

After a coffee in Booths again we all caught the bus to Buttermere, which was about 45 minutes away. The plan was to walk to Cats Bells and catch the boat across Derwentwater back to Keswick. The first ascent was very steep, then a slightly flatter bit before the final pull up Johnson.

It was much cloudier and cooler today. We finally reached the highest point of the day at Dale Head.

By then we had realised we weren't going to be in time to catch the last boat, so we decided to go straight down to the village of Rosthwaite in Borrowdale to catch the bus back. It was a steep, rocky descent, and Shirley's sciatic pain was troubling her quite a bit.

Once we reached the bottom we followed a river into Rosthwaite.

While waiting for the bus we had a pint in the Scafell Hotel. The bus was an open top tourist bus and it was a fun ride back to Keswick.

After showering we met up in the Dog and Gun hoping to have their goulash at last, but they'd had delivery problems and the kitchen had closed early! We decided to go to an Italian restaurant, Casa Bella. Scott had Bolognese pizza and Shirley had pasta with cheese and spinach, both were good.
