It was an extremely stormy night, we were woken up a lot by the campervan shaking in the wind.
We got up early and decided to walk up
to the Old Man of Storr. It was 300m of ascent and just over a mile. It
was windy but dry with occasional sunshine. There are quite spectacular
rock cliffs and formations.
By the time we went down it was getting
very busy with walkers.
We then drove north up to Lealt Falls and walked
to the viewpoint. It wasn't that impressive really.
We next drove to
the Quiraing, passing a car in a ditch on the way. We walked through the
Quiraing, passing the rock formations called The Prison, The Needle and
The Table.
We walked back over the top of the hill, with good views down to the crofts below at the coast.
It was pretty steep
and muddy on the way down.
After this we drove round the top of the
island, visiting the Folk Museum on the way. It has restored croft houses, workshops etc., very interesting.
At Uig we drove through the
Fairy Glen, without stopping.
We decided to stay at the camp site at Dunvegan. It was a
spectacular spot at the end of the sea loch.
From the campervan we watched a heron fishing on the shore.
For dinner we had spicy
chicken and vegetables. It was windy at night too.
