Gower

Today we were driving to the Gower peninsula in South Wales to meet up with the Bristol walking group the Shakey Strollers. We set off about 10 and first went to visit the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct - built  in 1805 by Thomas Telford. We went for a walk down the river first where we could see it from underneath.

Then we went for a walk along it. Amber didn't, she was reluctant to get on the narrow exposed path so we tied her up and left her.

After this we hit the road for the Gower. The roads were busy with traffic (especially around Swansea), sheep and cows. It was cloudy.

We were first to the bunkhouse, arriving about 4, with most of the others arriving fairly soon after. It was Hardingsdown Bunkhouse near Llangennith and was very nice.

After sitting chatting for a bit some of us walked to the Kings Head, the local pub in Llangennith about 30 minutes walk away.

Then we went back for dinner cooked by Tamsin - a couple of vegetable dishes with lots of snacks and trimmings.

Later there was birthday cake for Shirley and Neil (2nd May). We all sat in the kitchen after then went to bed.
