Germany - Day 1

We left the house in the campervan at about 10am, aiming for the Newcastle to Amsterdam ferry leaving at 5pm. To get some exercise before boarding, we stopped at Northumberlandia, a grass sculpture of a reclining woman which has been created on the site of an old open-cast coal mine.

We had a good walk round it.

We then headed on to the ferry terminal at North Shields. We were one of the first vehicles to board and all the paperwork was checked with minimal fuss. We have a cabin with 4 beds, and Oscar is allowed in with us.

There's a dog exercise area at the back of the boat, one deck above us. Oscar seems to have settled in ok.

The ferry actually seemed to leave about half an hour early. We had a wander about, leaving Oscar in the cabin.

Dinner was from the all-you-can-eat buffet in the restaurant. It had a range of European, American and Asian food, all pretty good if not exactly high quality.
