Cairngorms - Day 3

We drove to Ballater and parked in the centre of the village. From there we did two walks, first one west and second one east along the River Dee.

We came to a pedestrian suspension bridge over the river

We walked through the forest for a bit, and saw a roe deer (not pictured).

The route went up to Knock Castle, an old tower-house, where we stopped for a bit of lunch.

On the way back we passed a large garden with daffodils in full bloom, quite surprising for early June.

After passing Ballater again we carried on downstream.

The turning point of the walk was at the historic Cambus o'May suspension bridge.

The final part of the walk was back along the Deeside Way which at this point follows an old railway line. It was a long hot trek, the walk today was about 25km in total.

Later back at the site for dinner we had pasta, smoked salmon and pesto. Oscar decided he would be a good driver for the campervan.
