We drove to the car park at the bottom of the Cairn Gorm ski slopes, and started our walk over to Ben Macdui.
Once we got high up there was quite a lot of snow, though it was soft and fairly easy to walk on.
We reached Ben Macdui (1309m) after about 3 hours walking. It's the second highest mountain in the British Isles.
A snow bunting sat next to us as we had a sandwich.
There were good views over to Braeriach on the other side of the Lairig Ghru.
We then walked back across the plateau and up to the summit of Cairn Gorm itself (1245m). It has a weather station at the top.
Then down the path to the Ptarmigan restaurant, currently closed because the funicular railway is under repair.
Eventually we got back to the van after seven hours walking. Oscar was pretty tired!
Love the Cairngorm pictures! [Barry]
