Algarve - Day 3

We left the apartment and drove to the Ria Formosa visitor centre just outside Olhão. We walked round the nature trail there. There were salt pans, marshes, lakes and bird hides.

At the entrance to the lagoon was an old tidal mill, which used to be common in the area.

We also saw some old wells and irrigation channels.

After this we drove to a hill called Montecarapacho and walked up it. This was the first walk taken from the book we'd brought with us, the Algarve Walking Guide from Rother. This was walk number 28 in it.

There were good views from the top.

We then went to our new apartment in Tavira, picking up some shopping at Aldi on the way. The apartment isn't quite as nice as the last one, but has most of what we need.

After unpacking we walked into town, down to the old Roman bridge.

We had a drink by the river, then went home for dinner, fish fingers.
