Austria to Lake Como

Today is leaving day from Ladis. Breakfast is at 6.45am and the coach leaves at 7.30. We're traveling with Ramblers to Zurich airport on the coach, but instead of flying home we're picking up a hired car there and driving to the hotel we've booked near Lake Como in Italy.

There are 5 leaving on the London flight, plus us. Again we stop at the Rosenberger service station for a break. At the airport we leave the others and pick up the car from Firefly, a black Mitsubishi Colt.

We drive along Lake Zurich to Rapperswil to see the old wooden bridge there. The weather  is threatening rain so we don't stay long, we have a picnic lunch on the bridge.

At the San Bernardino Pass we drive over the top instead of using the tunnel, but we go above cloud level and there's no visibility up there at all.

As we drive towards Italy we get thunderstorms and torrential rain, it's almost pitch dark despite it being about 5pm.

We get to Il Nibbio Hotel in Magreglio at about 6.30. The room is much smaller than previous hotel, but you can't expect too much at Lake Como for 45 euros per night including breakfast.

We unpack and walk to a local pizza restaurant for something to eat, then go back to bed early.
