We did quite a long walk today. There's a canal that starts in Carentan and leads out into the Baie des Veys estuary. The mouth is nearly 10 km from the site, with a flat path going all the way.
There's some shade from trees at the start, but very little further out.
When we got to the bay the tide was way out. There were some seals on the sand but so far away we could only see them with binoculars.
We retraced our steps the 10 km back to the site. While we were walking back we got a phone call from Brittany Ferries. Because of the heatwave they said it wasn't advisable to have a pet in a vehicle on the car deck during the day. Our original booking is for next Tuesday afternoon, and they offered to change it free of charge to a night time one on either Monday or Tuesday. Alternatively we could pay extra for a dog-friendly cabin.
We decided to change to the Monday night, so it didn't mess up our plans for Eastbourne. It leaves at midnight and gets in at 5am UK time.
Back at the site we had a swim in the pool.
Later we walked into town for a look round. It's quite a big place, with restaurants at the port and also further into town. There was some live music going on in the main square.
We had a drink in a locals bar, then walked back to the site.
Later we had a barbecue of marinated steak, mushrooms, tomatoes, tabouleh, and coleslaw.
