We left in the minibus and drove to the waterfall walk which was quite close nearby. It was a half-day walk up through the forest to the 70m high Skakavitsa Waterfall.
On the way down we had a coffee at the hut.
Once we returned from that we drove to the Rila Monastery, one of the most famous attractions in the area and a Unesco heritage site. Before entering we had lunch at a restaurant overlooking the river. Scott had a shepherd's salad and Shirley had Shopska salad.
We walked round it for a bit, the two of us climbed the tower.
We then drove on to our next hotel in Govedartsi, the family run Hotel Krusharskata.
For dinner that night we had salad followed by stuffed peppers.
