Bulgaria - Day 10

Today we left the hiking group. We drove in the minibus to Sofia Airport, stopping at Iskar reservoir for a break on the way.

Eduard then dropped everyone off, and we went our separate ways. We went to pick up our rental car, a Kia Rio from Thrifty. The pickup went smoothly and we set off on our drive.

We were driving about 400km east to the Black Sea, where we had booked an Airbnb apartment at the resort of Sozopol.

The drive was fairly easy, on the A1 motorway most of the way. Just past Plovdiv the road surface was quite poor with lots of undulations, they reduced the speed limit to 90km/hr for 40km...

We noticed there were lots of fields of sunflowers on the way, and some grape vines. We stopped at a service station for a break about half way.

Eventually we arrive at our apartment in Sozopol. It's in Vitosha Street in the new town, there are a lot of narrow, busy and one-way streets and we had a little trouble finding a parking space. We contacted the host, Irka, who fortunately directed us to a reserved parking place just outside the apartment.

It's a one-bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor of a block, up the hill from the old town and the sea. It has a balcony overlooking the bay. It is well equipped with everything we need.

We went for a short walk into town and down to the beach, then stopped for a beer on the way back. We then went to a supermarket where we bought pizza for our dinner.
