Bulgaria - Day 7

We checked out of the Grami Hotel in Bansko after breakfast, and drove in the minibus to the chairlift for the Rila Lakes.

Eduard had checked the weather forecast, and thunderstorms were a possibility for later in the afternoon. Because of this he decided to shorten today's walk, and drive to the new hotel later.

Once we got to the top of the chairlift we walked round the route to see all the lakes.

It was much busier here than it had been in the Pirin mountains.

We had lunch up on a ridge, but soon it looked like the storms were about to start so we headed down

We drove to the next hotel, the Panorama in Panichiste. This was an ex-communist, fairly stark decor.

In the late afternoon the electricity was cut off for an hour or so. It might have been due to the spectacular thunderstorms we could see from our room.

For dinner that night we could choose รก la carte, Shirley had chicken Kavorma, Scott had pork knuckle.
