It was much less windy today. We walked from the site, heading for Xivert Castle which is on the other side of town in the Irta Natural Park.
After walking through the town we had to get to the other side of a motorway. It turned out the route took us through one of two quite small tunnels.
Once on the other side we walked through orange and almond plantations, then started climbing up towards the castle.
We had a good wander round and ate our lunch at the castle, it was pretty big. Some of it dates back to Moorish times.
On the forest tracks on this walk were loads of processionary caterpillars. These are very dangerous to dogs, and can lead to injuries or death if the spikes get in their skin. Fortunately Oscar wasn't interested in them, but we had to be very vigilant where we walked.
On the way back down we picked some "wild" oranges, and ate them at picnic benches outside a hermitage.
Back at the site we took Oscar for a run about in the secure dog exercise area.
We then left him in the van and walked into town for a drink. There was supposed to be come Carnival celebrations on, but though we heard music we didn't see very much. The light on the church was nice though.
For dinner we had Spanish potato and onion tortilla with peas and sweetcorn.
