We left the site and drove a few miles to Lac Guéry. There's a circular walk here, taking in the lake and three small peaks.
Soon after reaching the lakeside the path goes past a waterfall.
The route then goes over moorland a bit, then follows a track in a horseshoe going over some relatively small hills.
Back at the car park there's a viewpoint looking over a couple of jagged volcanic plugs.
We then drove back to Mont Dore, but to a different camp site. The municipal one, which is a bit more basic but nearer the town centre. We went for a walk to the local supermarket for some shopping, passing the abandoned station on the way.
Later for dinner we made tartiflette again.
