Scarborough - Day 7

We decided to drive to Goathland today. This is the village where the Heartbeat serial was filmed.

First we did a short circular walk to the Malyam Spout waterfall.

After returning to the village we waited for the heritage train to take us a single stop down the line to Newtondale Halt. It was hot and sunny, and the train was about an hour late in leaving.

It dropped us off at the halt, which is in the middle of nowhere, not near any road. We had our lunch there and it was very quiet.

From there we had about a 6 mile walk across the moors back to the start.

As we neared the end of the walk we came across a large party of grouse shooters. They spoke to us to make sure we were going to stay on the path. After we'd passed them we could hear a fairly large number of shots at the game birds.

We drove back to the site, and later had chilli and rice for dinner.
