Scarborough - Day 3

We walked the Scarborough "Three Peaks" walk today. This goes round Jacob's Mount, Oliver's Mount and Scarborough Castle. None of them are much more that 150 m high though!

First though, we walked down into the centre of town and into Peasholm Park, a Japanese-themed municipal park. It has a boating pond with an island in the middle, which has a pagoda at the top and a waterfall.

From there we walked through the cemetery and the suburbs to Jacob's Mount. This isn't actually much of a hill as it has a caravan site at the top of it.

We then walked down to The Mere, a lake with a path round the edge. We had our lunch there while sitting on a bench.

The next peak is Olivers Mount, which has a race track on the road around it.

At the top is a memorial monument, with good views down to the sea front.

We then walked down to the seafront and along to the end of the south beach.

At the harbour end we walked up the castle hill, with good views back down.

We paid to go into the castle and had a look round, it was quite interesting.

We walked down into the old part of town, and had a pint in Wilsons pub. It was very quiet. Then we walked towards the bus station and had another pint in the Scholars' Inn, which was busier.

We caught the X94 bus which took us right back to the camp site.

Later we had sweet and sour chicken for dinner.
