This morning we had breakfast on our balcony. It was sunny in the town, though still very windy. We could see that the top of the island was covered in cloud.
For our first walk we decided to get a bus to Degollada De Peraza at about 1000m, then walk down to the coast and back to San Sebastián. We walked to the bus station and caught the number 1 bus at 10.30am.
When we got up to our destination stop the weather was a bit foreboding, wet, windy and cloudy. We started walking down a steep rocky path, which is part of the GR131 route.
Eventually we came out of the clouds so it was drier and warmer, though still windy. There are loads of abandoned terraces all over the island, where crops used to be grown, and ruined farmsteads.
La Gomera has many spectacular volcanic rock formations.
The final descent into the gorge was very steep.
Eventually we reached the sea and started walking east back to San Sebastián.
Later we walked uphill to our local supermarket for provisions, and made tuna pasta for our dinner.
