We drove to Tarbert and bought bread and milk at a grocer there. Then on to the car park for Clisham, which is the highest hill in all the Outer Hebrides, at 799 metres. We set off across the fairly flat ground at first. Normally we could have expected it to be very boggy, but with the recent dry weather it wasn't too bad.
Further on it got a lot steeper and rockier, it was quite tough going.
Eventually we made it to the top, in brilliant sunshine with stunning views all around.
After sitting having our lunch we headed down, which was a bit jarring on the knees on the steep rocky slope. Eventually we made it back to the van though.
We drove back to Tarbert and had a wander round, and an ice cream. Then went to the car park for the Eagle Observation Trail in anticipation of doing that in the morning. Again, we could park there overnight for a £5 donation to the community. It even had a toilet.
For dinner we had beefburgers, mashed potatoes and beans.
