Today we decided to walk as far up the Lairig Ghru as we could. First we drove up the Glenmore road and parked at the start of a path. Unfortunately this went to a river crossing without a bridge so we aborted, went back to the car, and drove a bit further up the road.
The path at first goes through an area of freshly felled forest, which looked a bit devastated for now.
Further on the forest was much more picturesque and natural.
As we got higher up we left the forest and it became a lot more open. There was some snow, but not really as much as we might have expected for the time of the year.
It got a bit icy underfoot as we approached the pass, so we decided to turn back then.
After returning to the car we drove up the the ski car park at Coire Na Ciste. We saw there were some nursery ski slopes open, but not much going on really.
Later we went to the Old Bridge Inn again for a drink, followed by takeaway fish and chips from the Happy Haggis.
