Tenerife - Day 2

We got up fairly early and drove into the Anaga area to walk. It was sunny. We stopped at a viewpoint on the way, with views  back down over La Laguna.

We parked at the village of Chamorga at the bus terminus. The walk went up a gorge and into the forest.

We went along a ridge with great views of the coast.

Eventually we descended to the lighthouse, Faro do Anaga. We stopped for lunch there, as soon as we got our food out loads of lizards came out of the rocks, Shirley was a bit unnerved so we didn't stay long.

We went further down to a tiny fishing village next to the beach, Roque Bermejo.

Then we had a long hot climb back up to the starting point, it was a bit gruelling. We passed a plantation of Dragon Trees.

We made it eventually to Chamorga, finishing at a small church.

Unfortunately the only bar in the village was closed, so we started to drive home. On the way the brakes of the car were very noisy, a grinding noise that sounded like the pads were completely worn down.

To cut a long story short, we drove the car back to the Sixt office at the airport and got it changed for a silver Opel Corsa.

After showering we went out for dinner to a Spanish restaurant, the Esquinazo. We shared mozzarella salad, mushrooms in a yogurt sauce and Iberian pork with an almond sauce. It was all very good.
