Glen Clova and Montrose - Day 4

We got up and went for a walk straight from the site. First we went down to the beach, then along to the inlet to Montrose Basin.

We saw the grave of Bamse, a Norwegian wartime dog, and further on we saw a statue of it.

We crossed the bridge over the river, then along a country road to the coast. We had lunch at a ruined limekiln overlooking a bay.

Then we took the coastal path, soon coming across Elephant Rock, next to a cemetery.

Later we passed Fishton of Usan, a tiny fishing port.

Eventually we came to Scurdie Ness lighthouse, where we sat on a little beach to have a sandwich.

As we walked further round we watched a boat come out of the port, guided by a pilot to avoid the rocks and sandbank.

Finally we walked through the old ferry and fishing port of Ferryden.

Back in town we stopped at Tesco for provisions, then went back to the van.

Later we went out for a walk, stopping at Roo's Leap for a drink. We then walked back via the beach to see high tide.

We had salmon and vegetables for dinner.
