Easter Trip - Day 10

We left the site and drove up to the Symonds Yat Rock car park. First we went to the viewpoint at the rock, with good views to the River Wye.

We then followed the Highmeadow Trail which was 11 miles. It was a lovely walk through the Forest of Dean. We lost the track for a while, making it a bit longer.

We had lunch in Staunton, by a hexagonal sheep pen.

We got a good view at Buck Stone.

We later passed the Suck Stone, one of the largest individual boulders in the country.

Back down at the River Wye we went across a foot bridge, then up to a cave.

The bluebells were lovely.

Back down the other side we caught a hand-pulled ferry. We had to wait a while, one of the other passengers swam across to see where the ferryman was!

After a steep climb back to the car park we bought an ice cream, then started the drive towards home.

We stopped again at Loynton Moss and had pasta and sauce for dinner.
