Easter Trip - Day 2

We left quite early, before breakfast, and drove through Telford. We stopped at toilets in a park, then parked at the car park for the Wrekin, where we had our breakfast.

Then we started our walk, first going anti clockwise round the base then steeply up to the top. It was a nice path through the woods, and the bluebells were just coming out.

By the time we got there it was starting to get busy.

We went down then up the other hill, Ercall, also.

After lunch in the van we drove on to Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron. We bought Passports for £25 each to get entry to all 10 museums in the area. This one was quite interesting, with lots of history from around the start of the industrial revolution.

We then went to Engenious nearby. This was mainly for kids, with science and technology apparatus. They also had a little zoo exhibition with two armadillos, which were cute. Scott held a corn snake while Shirley stood well back.

We then visited the Darby houses where the Quaker families who owned the ironworks lived.

The old blast furnace is also there, preserved under a glass roof.

We drove on to Ironbridge village, where we visited the Museum of the Gorge, which had an interesting short film. We then went to the iron bridge itself, and its toll house.

After this we drove to our camp site, Easthope farm 4 miles outside Much Wenlock. We parked up and went for a walk round the farm while the weather was still nice.

For dinner we had chilli and rice.
