We had a very early flight from Edinburgh to Las Palmas airport in Gran Canaria, so had to leave the house before 4am. The travel to the airport went smoothly, parking in the Long Term car park, and the flight took off more or less on time at 6am.
We landed about 10.45 and went to the Avis desk to get our hired car. After a bit of a delay because they'd lost the key, we drove off in a white Citroen C3 at about 11.30.
Since we couldn't check in to our accommodation until 3pm, we first drove to the nearby resort of San Augustin, and went for a short walk along the promenade.
We had a drink in a Greek taverna, then drove on to a Lidl supermarket for provisions.
We then headed to our accommodation - Club Tisaya Bungalows in Maspalomas. Unfortunately when we got there at 3 our bungalow hadn't been cleaned yet, so they apologised and asked if we could wait an hour. We had a walk down the road and bought a beer at a nearby supermarket, and sat in the sun for a bit.
At 4 our bungalow was ready so we went in and unpacked. It has pretty much everything we need and was clean if a little aging. I forgot to take any pictures of the interior though!
Although the complex is in Maspalomas, the restaurants in the adjacent resort of Playa del Ingles are actually closer than the main eateries in Maspalomas, which tend to be centred at the lighthouse 2.7 km away.
We walked into Playa del Ingles, which is actually up a hill with good views over Maspalomas.
The temperature in the evenings is still fine for walking about. We had a look at the main shopping and restaurant areas, going as far as the Ceta centre, where we had a drink at the Cafe München.
We walked back home, and got a good sunset view.
Once in the bungalow we made dinner, spinach and ricotta stuffed pasta with tomato and olive sauce.
