Then we drove round to Colintraive where the 5-minute ferry to Bute leaves from. We parked the campevan and took the bikes.
On Bute we cycled the 9 miles south to Rothesay. On the way we saw the Clyde puffer Vic32.
We had a short walk around the town, looking at the famous Victorian gents toilet on the harbourside, and the castle with its moat.. We also checked the times for buses to Mount Stuart as it was a further 5 miles south.
We caught the bus to Mount Stuart and ate our lunch at the picnic tables outside before paying our money and going into the gardens. The gardens were magnificent, especially in the sunshine.
We also looked round the house, which is very opulent.
On the fourth floor there is a balcony, and then a spiral staircase down to the swimming pool.
We caught the bus back to Rothesay, where we had an ice cream and another stroll around and seat in the sunshine.
Then we cycled back for the 5.10pm ferry, and saw some seals on the way.
On getting the ferry back to the mainland we drove north to our camp site at Glendaruel. We set up and later had a barbecue of local sausages and burgers.
