We walked from the site again today, heading up the Strontian River glen. There was a sign advising us not to take the south path due to a flood-damage bridge, but we went anyway and it was fine.
We then crossed the River Strontian and continued the walk in Ariundle Oakwood National Nature Reserve. This is a spectacular ancient forest, with everything covered in bright green moss.
The path goes up to an old lead mine, where we stopped for lunch. We decided to go no further as it was pretty rainy, so headed back downhill.
We stopped for coffee and cake again at the Ariundle Centre.
