North West day 1 - Achiltibuie

We set off on our trip to the north west of Scotland at about 9am. We stopped at Tesco in Inverness for fuel and some provisions.

We then drove on to Corrieshalloch Gorge just off the A835. We took Amber for a walk round the nature reserve and the bridge and viewpoint over the gorge.

We then carried on to Ullapool where we stopped for a walk along the sea front, then went for a pint at the Argyll Hotel.

After this we drove on to the Coigach peninsula and the village of Achiltibue. We drove right through the village and found a quiet road with a small car park to wild camp on. It had a stunning view of the Summer Isles.

We went for a walk to the beach and along past the tiny Achininver SYHA hostel, which was closed for the season.

Back at the campervan we made our dinner, chicken and beans and home-grown vegetables we'd brought with us. Later we enjoyed a brilliant sunset over the isles.
