Spain - Day 2

We decided to walk round the city of Murcia today. It's about a half hour walk from the apartment to the city centre. Just up from the apartment is a pedestrian bridge over the high speed railway line which cuts across the city, though after many protests they're working on putting a big stretch of it into a tunnel underground.

Further on is a park with lots of very old plane trees with amazing roots.

We then reached the Segura River, which is just south of the centre of the city.

We crossed the river and started strolling around the old town. This is the square in front of the town hall.

We paid to go into the cathedral, and for a (Spanish) guided tour up the bell tower. The views from the top were good.

We went for lunch at a tapas bar in the Plaza de las Flores, known as the "tapas square". We had patatas bravas, shrimp and courgette ravioli, and aubergine moussaka. It was very good but we thought it a bit overpriced.

We carried on walking, heading out to the west and then circling down the Paseo del Malecon, a wide walkway back into the city.

We walked round a little more then headed back to the apartment. In total we walked over 12km.

Later for dinner we made pork chop with green beans.
