Athens and Peloponnese - Day 8

We packed up and left Kardamili today. Unfortunately Stella wasn't around so we couldn't thank her for all the gifts (we had more cake and cookies this morning).

We drove north up the peninsula, then east across the mountains. It was a really spectacular drive.

We stopped at Ancient Mystras and paid our 24 euros to go in. It's a Byzantine city on a hillside. It has spectacular views across the plateau to Sparta.

We did it in two halves, first by parking at the bottom and visiting the churches, ruins and monasteries there.

Then we moved the car to the top car park and visited the castle at the peak of the hill. There were great views down the site and across the plateau to the town of Sparta.

Then we drove on to Nafplio to our next apartment. We found it quite easily and checked in. Everything was fine, decor maybe a little tired but good value for what we paid.

We had a lemon tree in the garden below the balcony.

After unpacking we went out for some groceries at the supermarket. We then went for a stroll, just missing the sunset at the seafront.

We walked through the old town and had a drink at a tavern. We went back and made dinner, pepper and onion omelette and Greek salad.
