Corfu!

We were flying by Easyjet from Manchester, so left Edinburgh just after midnight to drive down the M6. I was quite an easy drive, and on the way we listened to a “learn Greek” podcast. We learned two words: Yassas – hello and Efharisto – thank you.

The flight left just after 6am and arrived about 11.30 local time. It's hot! (about 30 degrees I think). We picked up a hired car from National at airport – a red Suzuki Alto.

Our studio apartment was Villa Anthoussa in Paleokastritsa. This is on the other side of the island from the airport, so we drove there with the assistance of Google Maps.

We got there at about 1pm, and the owner was nowhere around. The cleaner told us the apartment wasn't ready yet, but would be at 2, so we left everything in the car and went for a walk. We ended up at the port, having seen a wild tortoise at the side of the road on the way.

We had a drink in a bar overlooking the port, then caught a water taxi back across to our bay.

By that time the apartment was ready so we were able to unpack the car. The apartment is lovely, has everything we need (except a coffee maker!).

Later on our way out to dinner we met Kostas the owner of the villa who told us about all the local attractions. We then went down to see our own private beach. Water is a bit cold!

Dinner was at a local tavern and we tried some traditional Greek dishes. Very meaty, and pretty good. Not too expensive, about 30 Euros including drinks.
